What each item is for
- Tire rotation. Teslas are heavy and quick, so tires can wear fast and unevenly. Rotating keeps wear even. Cars with staggered or directional tires may not be rotated the usual way.
- Brake fluid. Regenerative braking means the pads last a long time, but brake fluid still absorbs moisture, so Tesla checks it on a time basis.
- Cabin filters. Keep the air clean and the climate system working well.
- Caliper care. Brakes that are used lightly can seize from corrosion in salted-road areas. Cleaning keeps them working when you need them.
What a Tesla doesn’t need
No oil changes, spark plugs, timing belts, fuel filters or emissions checks. That’s most of what fills a gas car’s schedule. See electric car maintenance for the full picture.
Still worth checking yourself
- Tire pressures monthly — how to check tire pressure
- Tread depth and tire age — how long tires last
- Washer fluid and wiper blades
- The 12-volt (or low-voltage) battery warnings
